Xigmatek Cobra D984 performs remarkably well for its size and outperforms Nexus HOC-9000 which has 120mm fan. The 92mm PWM fan is very silent at low rpm and remains silent even at full speed. One more advantage is that Cobra D984 blows the air towards the motherboard and cools other components as well.

Price starts from $44(usd) at Amazon, meaning that Cobra not only performs well but is also low priced. Build quality also is remarkable and exceeded all my expectations!Perhaps a better lapped contact surface would be nice, but this is not problem at all. We also have to mention that Cobra D984 is not compatible with Lga 1366 but this can be easily solved with Xigmatek Crossbow mounting kit that not only adds Lga 1366 compatibility but also a backplate and a more secure mounting mechanism at the price of ~6$.

The compact size makes Cobra D984 also ideal for HTPCs that require better cooling but space is limited.

Pros

  • Build quality
  • Nice package
  • High performance
  • Low noise
  • Compact size

ConsĀ

  • Not compatible with Lga 1366 out of the box(requires Crossbow kit)
